La Casa is an all-volunteer, 100% donation-funded organization committed to supporting abandoned, neglected, and abused children in Orange County.
Founded in 1980 by Thomas and Lilia Powell, La Casa played a key role in raising funds for the construction of the Orangewood Children and Family Center, which opened in 1985 as the County's primary shelter for vulnerable children. Over the years, La Casa has expanded its efforts by partnering with local organizations like La Familia and Las Amigas to support Orangewood’s programs and improve the lives of its residents. Today, La Casa continues its mission by funding life skills courses, holiday celebrations, and fun activities, ensuring children receive the care, education, and experiences they deserve.
La Casa remains committed to providing care, comfort, and unforgettable memories for the children at Orangewood, making a lasting impact during their time there.
La Casa enhances the lives of children at Orangewood by providing love, care, and positive activities that create lasting memories and offer a brief escape from their troubled past.
