Orangewood Children and Family Center

Orangewood Children and Family Center (formerly Orangewood Children’s home) is operated by the Orange County Social Services Agency and is a nationally- recognized shelter for neglected and abused children.

Orangewood is a safe haven for youth who have unwillingly found themselves in very unfortunate circumstances and need short-term (emergency) protection. Each year hundreds of children, ranging from newborn to 18 years of age are brought here to Orangewood for reasons from alleged abuse, to neglect and abandonment.

Creating a secure and stable environment in a temporary shelter setting can be very challenging. Orangewood staff of counselors, social workers, teachers, librarians, nurses & therapists provide 24-hour protection, supervision and care for all the children currently in residence. Plus they are also committed to meeting the cultural needs of its diverse population.

Our donation process makes it simple for you to designate your donations toward a specific program, set up recurring donation(s) to support initiatives all year and or create an online fundraiser to share with friends. Will you get involved? All donations are tax-deductible and a tax receipt is emailed promptly for your records.

Who is La Casa? La Casa is and all-volunteer organization brought together to support these children. Founded in 1980 as an auxiliary to support the Allen Sitton Home, later replaced by the Orangewood Children’s Home and now Orangewood Children and Family Center.

What does La Casa do? LA CASA enhances the environment of the children undergoing the difficult transition that brought them here. Through La Casa’s special support of activities, Orangewood’s children are able to forget their troubled past, if even for just a few hours. Moreover, the activities allow the children to enjoy the simple pleasures of being a child. La Casa also sponsors field trips, after school activities, yoga, art, music, dance, fitness, gardening, sewing, nutritional cook and more!

Are you interested in sponsoring an educational or recreational activity? Your sponsorship will provide these children with the opportunity to participate in educational field trips and functions, organized sports, and other extracurricular activities of their interest. You can support LA CASA by making a secure donation via our PayPal.
